Membership:
How do I register?
You can get basic membership with My Old Motors by clicking here. Once you have registered you must check your email account inbox to confirm your email address. A message will have been sent to you in which you have to click a link to complete registration. It is therefore important that you use your real email address to sign up!
Can I edit my personal details later?
Yes. Once you have signed in, click Your Details in the menu.
What personal information do you ask for when I sign up?
All we ask for is your full name, your email address (used as your username) and a password to gain access to the site. We also ask where you heard about My Old Motors. We will NEVER ask for credit card details or your address. If you receive an email masquerading as one from My Old Motors asking for such information, DO NOT REPLY. It will not be genuine.
If you sign up for full membership, you will be asked for payment details and your address by Paypal. My Old Motors NEVER see the information you enter into the Paypal form. You can view their policies at www.PayPal.com.
How is my personal information used?
The information you give us to gain basic membership remains on our database. We never give it to a third party. It is simply used to allow you to log in to the site. The password you give us will only ever be sent to the email address with which you signed up.
Is paying for full membership secure?
Yes. All the information you enter into the payment form is used by PayPal, not My Old Motors. My Old Motors never see your payment details or address. You can view PayPal's policies at www.PayPal.com.
Do My Old Motors see my credit card details?
No. Never. Any details you enter into the payment form for full membership are used solely by PayPal.
If I forget my password, can I get onto the site?
Yes. Simply click on the Forgot Your Password link in the log-in box. You will need to know the email address with which you signed up. If you no longer have access to that email account MY Old Motors will NOT send the password to any other email account.
What do My Old Motors do to combat spam mail in my email account?
Well, we never give your details to a third party. So if you are getting any spam, it's not as a result of signing up with us. Try not to give too many websites your email address as many do sell the information to bulk-mailers.
How long is full registration for?
Full registration is for 12 months. Once the time has elapsed, you will become a basic member again.
How do I login?
Go to the homepage and enter your details in the 'Log in' box on the right hand side.
How do I logout?
Click 'Logout' in the menu on the left hand side. It is recommended that you log out after each session if you are using a shared computer.
Can I close my account?
My Old Motors do not delete accounts from the database. It causes too much upheaval finding all the cars the member has entered and deleting them individually. If you wish to stop using My Old Motors we would encourage you to leave the cars you have registered in the database. However, if you wish to take them of you can delete them individually from the View My Cars page.
How do I complete registration?
To complete basic registration, check your email account. There should be a message from us in your inbox. Click the link in the message and you will become a basic member.
When I login, I don't have full membership. Why?
Full membership has to be paid for. Basic membership allows you to add cars to the database and search those that are already entered. The advantages of full membership are being able to read the full entries against each car and having the ability to contact cars' owners.
Why can't I see all the details of other members' cars?
Because you are not a full member. Full membership is £4.95 for 12 months. If you are a full member and still can't see full details, then perhaps the person hasn't entered any more details yet. If you are sure this isn't the case then email us at webmaster@myoldmotors.co.uk and explain the situation to us.
Why do you charge for full membership?
We charge for two reasons. The first is to deter nuisance people from contacting members of the website. We believe £4.95 is a reasonable amount to ask of someone trying to find out the history of their car, yet enough to deter someone from playing a prank. The second reason is to help pay for the hosting of the website. The £4.95 subscriptions are the only income we receive directly from the website.
I can't login!
